About Me

My name is Parker Zelasko and I am a student at the SIU School of Dental Medicine. I started this blog because not only do I want to help people have a great smile, but I also want to help bring a little more happiness in everyone’s life.  That sounded clever didn’t it?  Thank you, thank you I’ll go ahead and give myself two pats on the back for that one.  So what else to tell you about me… I like travelling, long walks on the beach, teeth I guess, and so on and so forth.

Ok, now I guess this is the portion of the About Me page where I mention my credentials… I don’t have any credentials.  Yup, I’m just a regular guy with a good head on his shoulders that wants to be a dentist and likes to give people advice on life.  I have always been a very easy person to have a conversation and get along with, and I’ve helped people get through some really hard times in life so to me at least that’s all the credentials you need.  Now that that part is out of the way let’s get into some good stuff.

My freshman year of college was the point in my young adulthood where I not only began questioning my own life and goals, but I also started questioning the world around me. I felt something in me was missing, and that I needed to discover myself and develop a strong mindset in order to truly be happy. So that’s exactly what I did.  I worked towards developing a confident and happy attitude and the results of this were life-changing.  I started seeing the pieces of my life fitting together and started seeing the rewards of all my hard-work throughout my young life, like getting into dental school!

I chose dentistry as a profession because I wanted a career where I could not only improve a person’s health, but also improve their confidence by giving them a smile to be proud of.  While I do enjoy the idea of improving people’s lives with my knowledge in this field, I also would like to use my knowledge in other areas to bring someone an overall sense of happiness and acceptance.  I truly believe those who work in the field of dentistry are some of the happiest people in the world and that this knowledge of how to live a happy life should be shared with everyone.

We all want to be happy with our lives, and just like any other good thing in life happiness requires hard-work and dedication.  I believe that finding happiness and enjoying the life we have is an area most people have struggled in. If you want to develop a positive and confident mindset only you can determine whether or not this goal is achievable.  We have all gone through difficult times in our lives and I truly believe it is these difficult times we learn the most valuable lessons from and that shape who we are as a person.  Whether you feel as if you don’t have the time to discover what will truly make you happy or if you’ve reached a point in life that you think you can never be happy again, once you start dedicating yourself to being the person you always wanted to be you will start seeing improvement every day.

As stated before, these are my own personal thoughts and strategies I found to be successful in helping me develop as a person. Every person is different so though these strategies work for me hopefully you will discover your own thoughts and opinions that speak out to you. I write these posts in order to help you develop and mature as a person, and to also practice the skill of free thinking. Hopefully these posts will help you to start to think for yourself, develop yourself as a whole, and most importantly: make you smile!

Only you can determine what makes you happy so go out there and experience the life you want to live!

Here’s some pictures of me and an inspirational quote.
